It’s widely thought that ‘Financial literacy is a critical life skill for everyone and is something we should all be taught from a young age’ (Financial Literacy in Schools | Importance and How to Teach) and during tough financial times for many people it would make sense for children and young people to have the opportunity to develop confidence around money and understand how they can manage it in order to make choices and work towards independence. Blake aims to focus on this topic alongside finding ways to improve and promote work experiences for students through his campaign
Hello my name is Blake. I am year 11.
I will be campaigning for two years on financial education and money skills in schools starting from April this year.
I am interested in promoting life skills and confidence for students and more work experience opportunities with smaller businesses.
I will do this by talking to small business networks, businesses, MPs, schools and my fellow students. I would also talk to careers advisers to explore ways to make improvements
I will also talk to schools, local MPs, banks, students and parents/carers about financial education. I may also contact Martie Lewis or his team for suggestions and support.
