There are so many things that we ensure that we keep clean, from ourselves, our clothes and our homes. But, how about our schools? Ruby, member of the Somerset Youth Parliament advisory group lets us know why keeping school floors clean is so important.

A clean school environment can seem irrelevant, but old food on the floor and rubbish on the ground isn’t an ideal set up for learning, socialising and spending several hours a week in. In too many cases, students drop left over food on the floor, leave rubbish on the floor, or try to feed seagulls. All those things lead to the need to watch your step and avoid areas with a large population density of birds. While classrooms are clean, having a dirty space at break and lunch times can be quite annoying.

School isn’t just a place to learn facts, you also learn skills to help you better interact with others, and stepping over unwanted food, shouldn’t be a part of that.

Do your best to keep your school clean PLEASE!
