Climate change is one of the biggest issues of our time, with the extreme heat and extreme rain all an impact of it. But it’s such a huge issue, what can you or I do? Well, luckily member of the Somerset Youth Parliament Advisory group, Dan is on the case!!
Today I’m going to be writing my article on climate change. This is a matter that everyone has probably discussed or heard before. As stated by Google: “Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. Such shifts can be natural, due to changes in the Sun’s activity or large volcanic eruptions.”
Climate change has a multitude of equally important and inimical causes. These can stem from simply dropping a plastic straw to dumping nuclear waste in the ocean. Every little thing makes a detrimental negative impact. Pollution can be caused on purpose and accidentally. Albeit you should still take responsibility for your actions.
So far, I have stated many things that negatively impact the climate, but there also many things that can benefit the environment. Such as buying recyclable, sustainable, environmentally friendly products and more natural or locally sourced foods.
You could also attempt to not overly use energy, like electricity and try to minimise your fossil fuel usage and waste.
To conclude, we only have one world, so we should try to nurture and protect it as much as possible. I hope this short article has been informative, and I hope it’s been interesting.
One of our Members of Youth Parliament, James runs his campaign ‘Young People and the Fragile Environment’ and at our Sunday Youth Parliament Advisory Group meeting he ran a debate on climate and the environment.
