Crispin school has confirmed that a member of the learning support team will not be returning to the school after she was filmed making comments about numbers of black and Asian students at the school at an anti-immigration protest in Taunton. As a former student of the school (and member of the Somerset Youth Parliament advisory group), Grace, shares her thoughts on the situation.
I found news of this very shocking. I was a student at Crispin school until I left in 2024, and throughout my years I never witnessed any overt racist behaviour from teachers (but I may not have picked up on it). It is terrible that a person entrusted to look after young people can have such racist beliefs. It’s reassuring that the school have fired the woman, as this could have caused a lot of concern and worry for the young people there.
