This month Somerset Member of Youth Parliament, Emma Brown wanted to talk about revision. It can be an incredibly stressful time, so Emma has put together five tips that could help with your revision.
For many young people the start of the New Year will signify a start to the revision grind in preparation for exams. Much like me, as a Year 11 currently prepping myself and my revision timetable for the work that is coming for my GCSE’s. I’ve been overloaded with revision guides, revision sessions and long hours of work. All with the goal of achieving the best grades each of us can get. But in this short article, I want to share how you can take care of yourself going into one of the most important and busy times:
- Take a break if you need it! This will help refresh your brain and increase your productivity.
- Get your sleep! Sleep is where your body has a chance to heal and regenerate, this will lead to increased focus on your studying as you have more energy.
- Eat Breakfast! This gives your body the energy it needs to get through the school day and revision. Snacks during your revision breaks are a great way to reward yourself and increase your energy.
- Ask for help! If you are confused about a revision subject or revision organisation ask for help from a teacher or trusted adult. Creating a positive helpful community around you will help you better you’re learning.
- Do something you love to relax! Revising is very stressful and so are mocks and exams. So, when you are taking a break remember to do something you love. Read, meet with friends or walk your dog. This will help take your mind off the stress of revision and help increase your mood.
Hope this helps! Good Luck to everyone in their Mocks and their Exams!!
