Last month we were delighted to introduce a few new faces to Youth Parliament’s Advisory Group. Let’s learn a little more about Gemma.
Hello! My name is Gemma, I am 16 years old, and I am really excited to introduce myself as one of the new members of the Youth Parliament Advisory Group. It is a privilege to represent young people across Somerset, and I can’t wait to get involved!
At my first Youth Parliament meeting, last weekend, I was warmly welcomed by Somerset Youth Parliament. I was also reassured to meet other new members who were likely just as apprehensive as I was! One highlight of the day was delivering a one-minute speech – something I’d never done before. Standing in front of a new group of people was nerve-wracking, but after I delivered my speech, I felt a real sense of accomplishment for stepping out of my comfort zone.
I am really looking forward to presenting my views to Youth Parliament, and getting involved to make the voices of young people in Somerset heard!
