Grace is one of the new members of the Somerset Youth Parliament Advisory Group, in January she attended her first meeting – and we were thrilled to have her – in this article she tells us what she thought of the experience.
Today was my first day of Youth Parliament and I was amazed at the vast amount of connections we have, as well as the opportunities. It was great to have an engagement officer from the NHS talk to us about the 10-year-plan, as well as get feedback from us. It was also useful to present a one-minute speech about a subject of our choice – I chose barriers to education for young people, a topic which is very important to me.
I really enjoyed meeting everybody and seeing how passionate they were about making a difference throughout Somerset, as well as the entire nation. I can’t wait for the next meeting.
