Children’s Parliament Day is organised by the Somerset Centre for Integrated Learning (SCIL) and Youth Parliament. It provides an important opportunity for children to develop their confidence, learn presentation skills and have their voices heard across services. At the 2024 Children’s Parliament Day we were lucky to meet Noah who has now become a member of Youth Parliament’s Advisory Group.
Hi, my name is Noah and I’m an 11-year-old member of Somerset Youth Parliament’s Advisory Group.
Here’s how I found out about the group! About eight months ago I had never heard of Somerset Youth Parliament yet meeting them has been so great. My school had entered us in a Children’s Parliament one day competition and I was picked to take part.
I found out that Children’s Parliament Day is supported by Somerset Youth Parliament. On the day Youth Parliament members ran a workshop then invited us to go to one of their meetings and join the group if we wanted.
It’s a great opportunity to express yourself and your passions. You don’t need to be afraid to share your thoughts because we won’t judge you. It isn’t as serious as it sounds. We are a fun, understanding and friendly group who work as a team and support each other – so come and join the future of Somerset!
