Did you know that 10 December is Human Rights Day? William, member of the Somerset Youth Parliament Advisory Group has written a great article on this important awareness day, where he talks about what it is, when it started and how you can celebrate it.

Human Rights Day is an international celebration that takes place on 10 December every year and honours the proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which occurred on the same day in 1948, in Paris. The document was passed to ensure that every person is treated equally, regardless of race, gender, political opinions, and much more.

Many people celebrate Human Rights Day by doing things such as volunteering and making donations, and I believe that it is important to celebrate this as it significantly helps our community bond, which can lead the way to more recreational events, including youth clubs, safe spaces, charity fundraising events, and wellbeing groups within schools, in which people will be able to be heard, supported, and build various skills.
