May the fourth may now be behind us, but there are lots of great messages and lessons baked into Star Wars. Grace, member of the Somerset Youth Parliament Advisory Group has written about a few life lessons from a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.
May the Fourth be with you, and happy belated Star Wars Day! Star Wars is a hugely popular film series, beloved by people of all ages across the world. But what are the life lessons it gives us? As Yoda says ‘Do, or do not. There is no try’ This quote emphasises how important it is to sometimes take positive risks, as they may end up for the greater good. If you give up on something, the outcome is certain, but I believe if you DO try, you are allowing good things to happen and letting positivity into your life!
As Jyn Erso wisely states, ‘rebellions are built on hope’- this emphasizes that, if enough people work together, we can make changes that help everyone. BUT we all need to help each other to achieve these outcomes, and have hope for a better future, especially in these uncertain times. ‘Stay on target’ as Gold Five commands, is a motivating lesson for us all. We all have ambitions about what we want to achieve, and we just need to put the time and effort in to make them come true. BUT, ‘a goal without a plan is just a wish’, as the writer Antoine de Saint- Exuperey reminds us!
