Luca is one of our three new Members of Youth Parliament, who took office at the beginning of April. In this post he gives us an update on his campaign.
As you may have seen on the website you’re using right now, I am one of the newly elected Members of Youth Parliament (MYPs), and this month I am now officially appointed into my role. I would like to write about both my campaign and my plan of action for the near future for a bit.
My campaign is centred around tackling misinformation and giving young people more of a say locally, and to achieve those two overarching goals I need to complete a lot of smaller tasks within. For example, understanding how people approach news that they encounter, and speaking with representatives (MPs, councils, etc.) to ensure they’re keeping young people’s interests at heart.
The goals that I have just listed are a little vague but that’s mainly because I will be updating on what goals I am achieving in future articles so as to not be too overwhelming.
Anyway, my plan of action for now is to push out a survey about where people get their news and what they do with it, which will allow me to deliver my projects in a more appropriate and relatable way. It should be released by the end of the month if all goes well.
