Earlier this year we saw our three new Members of Youth Parliament (MYPs) Eva, Blake and Luca take office and begin working on their campaigns. While all three MYPs are working hard on their campaigns, we have some exciting updates from both Blake and Luca.
Money Skills and Financial Literacy – Blake
Blake’s campaign looks at young people’s relationship with money, what they know about bills and budgeting, money skills, setting up small businesses and work experience.
These first few months have involved research into these topics and has resulted in Blake creating a quick survey on work experience. Blake would like to find out if students in Somerset are managing to get work experience, if they’re struggling to find placements, how many companies they had to contact and what industry the work experience is in.
The survey will only take a few minutes to complete, is open to all young people in Somerset and will help inform Blake’s campaign.

Your Opinions Matter – Luca
Luca’s campaign focuses on the harmful misinformation and disinformation in the news and information that we see, hear and read every day.
He has spent the first few months of his campaign looking at the sources of news and information that are available, fact checking them and comparing where these source either intentionally or unintentionally get things wrong.
To help with his research, Luca would like to know where you get your news and information from, is it from a newspaper, social media, a website, app, TV or any other source. Luca has created a short survey that will help him to collect this information. The survey is open to anyone in Somerset and will only take a few minutes to complete.
