We are excited to announce that Somerset Member of Youth Parliament, Ellie Bealing is this year’s winner of the Young Person of the Year Award at the Pride of Somerset Youth Awards.

The awards ceremony took place on the Thursday May 16 2024 at the McMillan Theatre in Bridgwater and was hosted by BBCs Simon Parkin. The awards recognise young people aged 8-18 years, the adversity they have overcome and the amazing things that they have done.

Ellie received her award for her range of roles in her school, where she is on the School Council, Head of School at King Arthur’s School in Wincanton where she is a student, and her work in Somerset Youth Parliament, where Ellie is an elected member of Youth Parliament, representing young people across the county.

Ellie said at the event:

I’m proud that my work has been recognised, it’s a privilege to be able to represent other young people. It’s important not to forget that.

The Young Person of the Year Award was sponsored by Bridgwater and Taunton College.
