There’s nothing quite like curling up on the sofa or a little nook, with a cuppa and a good book. But did you know that reading has a whole bunch of other benefits? In her article, Grace explains the important benefits of reading.

When we get bored or have some free time, many of us instinctively reach for our phones for entertainment. This is completely understandable and many of us have been in the same shoes, however there are other options that you could consider instead of using your phone. One of these examples is reading. Reading has been proven as being greatly beneficial for brain health and can even help prevent diseases such as Alzheimer’s in the long term. Additionally, reading can help you expand your vocabulary due to the exposure to a variety of new worlds you may not have seen before.

Reading is also wonderful for the imagination as it allows you to travel to new worlds, meet different characters and discover new stories.

Reading is also brilliant for developing social skills including empathy and understanding, as you’re more able to comprehend different difficult situations that characters may experience which can help you in everyday life. Reading has endless benefits – which book will you pick up next?
