In this article Dan, member of the Somerset Youth Parliament Advisory Group, writes about the importance and positive effects of physical exercise for your physical health, as well as your mental health and wellbeing and shares his love of sports.
Everyone always plans on living a healthy, prosperity filled life. Yet this takes work to create and maintain. For example, you could eat a healthy diet, participate in social events, be hygienic, take care of your mental health and do exercise. All of these work on different essential and equally fruitful properties with a multitude of benefits. For example, taking care of your mental health improves your general mood and eating healthily bestows you with necessary nutrients.
Today I’m going to be talking about how and why you should exercise. To begin with it is always a fantastic way to build both your mental and physical wellbeing. Finding a sport or physical activity that affiliates with your interests can be a phenomenal way to find enjoyment or friends while also contributing to your physical health. Sports naturally make people feel positive due to the release of a hormone called endorphins from the brain, these are also commonly released in nature which can amplify your positivity.
In the summer months the heat can be detrimental to your sporting fixtures or events thus causing a loss in activity. This can be fixed by committing to an indoor sport activity (e.g. Basketball, Netball, tennis, badminton, the gym etc)
In conclusion, sports are a fantastic way to have a great time while also being rewarded with various positives. Thanks for reading.

Exercise and active lifestyles aligns nicely to one of our Members of Youth Parliament’s (MYP’s) current campaigns. MYP Eva Dowden’s campaign looks at improving sport and active lifestyle opportunities in schools and colleges, as well as trying to find out what young people like, and what puts so many students off taking part in sports or physical education. Get in touch and let us know!
